The Mystery of the Red House (Libros del Tiempo No. 366) (Spanish Edition)
Category: la campina
This light-hearted and entertaining book, in reality, offers readers a solid logic and deduction puzzle beneath its apparent lightness, as noted by Raymond Chandler. Mark Ablett, the owner of a magnificent country house in England, hosts a lively gathering at his residence. Among the eclectic guests - a widow and her marriageable daughter, a retired military man, and a determined actress - are also Anthony Gillingham and his friend Bill Beverley, who are unexpectedly propelled to act as circumstantial Watson and Holmes: the mysterious murder of their host's brother, who had recently arrived from Australia and was considered the family's black sheep, and the equally inexplicable disappearance of the latter after the crime. The Mystery of the Red House (1922), the author of Winnie the Pooh's sole foray into detective fiction, is considered one of the best and most imaginative locked-room novels in the history of the genre.
